About | Howard Gordon "Lee" Crowner, 81, of 6676 Millersburg Road, Wooster, formerly of Zanesville, died Thursday at Horne;s Nursing Home in Wooster. Born September 20, 1899, he was the son of Lewis D. and Maude Gordon Crowner. Mr. Crowner was a member of the Zanesville High School football team which was state champion in 1916 and later became a pro football player. A Navy veteran of World War I, he became a water well driller in 1958 and later became an oil and gas well driller. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Crowner, who died September 11, 1981. Surviving are two sons, James Crowner of Lansing, Michigan and Lewis (Duke) Crowner of Wooster; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Dodd, and a brother, Robert Lee Browner, both of Riviera Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Cemetery. |
