About MOUNT PERRY: Iva Melissa (Gay) Peck, 90, of Mount Perry, passed away at 6:20 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 5, 1921 in Meigs Township a daughter of the late William and Goldie (Gallogly) Gay. Iva attended Philo High School and graduated from Lash High School in the class of 1939. She graduated from Cameo Beauty School in 1940. She operated a beauty salon, was a restaurant manager, employed at Essex Wire, Mosaic Tile, and some other out of state factories. She had lived in the Somerset area for the past 50 years. She was a member of the New Reading Christian Union Church where she taught Sunday School and played the piano for several years. She also shared her talents at other local churches with her singing and playing her accordian.

She is survived by a daughter, Ellen (Bob) Mason of Mount Perry with whom Iva made her home; one son, Wayne E. Groves of Somerset; six grandchildren, James A. Moore, Jr. of South Zanesville, Shelly A. Kendall of Roseville, Timi L. (Tom) Bussey of Roseville, Selena R. (Ed) Lewellen of Zanesville, Valerie K. (Todd) Wiggins of Roseville, and Chad E. Groves of Zanesville; 16 greatgrandchildren and six great-greatgrandchilden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Frieda A. Gallogly.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
