About Jack E. Tom, 70, died at 10 am Tuesday, September 6, 1994, at the Heartland Care Center of Urbana following a six month illness.

Born June 24, 1924 in Zanesville, Mr. Tom was the founder and president of Tom's Print Shop which he sold upon his retirement in June 1993. He was an active member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church serving on various committees and as a member of the church choir. He served in the U. S. Army in WW II in the South Pacific.

Mr. Tom was the first secretary and former president of the Zanesville Jaycees and served as vice president of the Ohio Jaycees in 1955. He was selected as one of the "Five Outstanding Young Men in Ohio" by the Ohio Jaycees in 1956. He was a member and past president of the Zanesville Rotary Club. He was an honorary recipient of the "Paul Harris Fellow Award" presented to him by the Zanesville Rotary Club.

He was also a former Board member of the Zanesville Country Club, Muskingum Motor Club and former chairman of the United Way campaign. He also seved as president of the former Y-City Transit Co. and was a member of the LaFayette Lodge No. 79, F&AM and the Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge.

Surviving him are a son and daughter-in-law, Eric W. and Jody Tom of Bellefontaine, two sons, Blair E. Tom of Columbus and Tracy A. Tom of Zanesville; and two grandchildren, Erin A. Tom and Adam W. Tom, both of Bellefontaine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold V. and Violet Sims Tom; an infant son; and sister, Pollyann Flowers.

Burial will be in Memorial Park.
