Jacquelin Dutro Jaquith Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1949
Date of Passing Nov 29, 2020
About Jacquelin Dutro Jaquith, age 89, passed away quietly at her home on Sunday, November 29, 2020. Jacquie was born on June 4, 1931 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Eugene and Opal Dutro. She graduated from Denison University in 1953 and spent the next 25 years raising "her" 5 boys with an almost unhuman amount of patience. In the next phase of her life, she put her degree to use teaching English at Dublin Middle Schools for 13 years before retiring in 1990. Her love of books led her to a second career working at Little Professor Books until its closing and then at Upper Arlington Public Library, retiring for a second time after 15 years.

Jacquie went through life with a kind of quiet confidence. She seemed to have the ability to deal with the negatives in her life by focusing on the positives. She was never outwardly critical or judgmental of others and spent much more time listening than talking. She would always want to know how or what you have been doing, but when asked the same questions of her the reply was usually "I am doing just fine thanks". She never told you what to do or how to do it but would always be there to listen and to help if needed, in anyway she could. She will be sorely missed till we see her again but we feel lucky to have called her our mom, our sister, our mother in law, our "Baba", our friend. Love You.

We love her very much. Jacquie is survived by her sister, Dorothea "Dottie" Dutro Cartmille of Phoenix, Arizona; 5 sons, Todd of Upper Arlington, Ross (Marcia) of Naples, Florida, Kent (Tammy) of Granville, Craig of Grandview and Reid of Upper Arlington; 5 grandchildren, Tim, Andy, Cecilia, Claudia and Cole; 2 great grandchildren, Olivia and Emma; and a third greatgrandchild on the way.

A family service will be held at Zanesville Memorial Park
