About | James D. "Jim" Williams, 86 of Zanesville, joined his beloved wife Thelma in the glory of heaven, 5:30 PM, Saturday, February 18, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Sunday, September 13, 1936, in Zanesville, the son of Chester Williams, Sr. and Henrietta (Dalton) Williams. He married Thelma L. (Holbert) Williams on Thursday, April 14, 1960, and was a very active member of Wings of Hope Tabernacle. Jim served his county as a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from Owens Corning following many years of service. He enjoyed yard work and was very proud of his yard. Jim enjoyed baking, cooking and watching his westerns. Jim was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jim is survived by two daughters: Melissa & Bryan Harris and Imelda & Robert “Bobby” Newman; two sons: James Christopher Williams and Michael Wesley (Jody Williams) Williams all of Zanesville; six grandchildren: James C. Williams II, Ryan Harris, Ashleigh Hill, Nathan Williams, Leighann Harris and Gauge Williams; four great grandchildren: Harmony Harris, Ke’anna Harris, Jorhdyn Williams and Abigail Williams; one brother, George (Darlene) Williams; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Williams; one infant grandson, Chet Arthur; siblings, Roy Williams, Earl Williams, Russell Williams, Chester “Sonny” Williams, Jr., Henry Williams, Helen Adams, Edna Portis and Dorothy Tabler. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at The Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, and one hour prior to services at the church from 11:00 AM till time of service. Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon, Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Wings of Hope Tabernacle, 709 Lee Street, with Rev. Jim Workman officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, with the United States Air Force and VFW Post 1058 conducting full military honors. |
