About | James “Jim” L. Covert, 88, of Zanesville, passed away December 25, 2018 at Altercare with his loving family by his side. He was born June 12, 1930 in Zanesville, to William Paul and Edna Kirkman Covert. James was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in the Navy. He served in the Coast Guard and was Vice Commodore of the Muskingum Valley Boating Association of which he was a member from 1952-1958. This group was instrumental in preserving the lock system of the Muskingum River. James was the owner of Covert’s Potpourri in Zanesville and retired from Owens-Illinois after 42 years of service. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and sang in the choir. In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Kathryn (Campbell) He is survived by his daughter Melinda (Patrick) Snyder of Zanesville; brother Harold “Gene” (Juanita) Covert of Zanesville; grandchildren, Ben (Julie) Snyder of New Concord, Jennifer (Michael) Williams of KY, Caitlin (Jonathan) Hoffer of Cincinnati; great-grandchildren, Austin, Nick, Isabel, Cassie, Skylar, Sydney. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. |
