James Russell "Jim" King, age 66 of Zanesville, died 11:25 PM, Friday, July 3, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family, following a long illness. He was born Saturday, December 25, 1948 in Zanesville, the son of Russell King and Betty (Cash) King. He married Rhoda (Aldred) King on Saturday, May 10, 1969. Jim honored his country as a veteran of the United States Navy during Vietnam serving on the U.S.S. Coral Sea. He retired from the City of Zanesville Water Department following over 20 years of service. He enjoyed primitive camping, muzzle loaders, hunting and fishing and was a longtime member of the Brothers of Ivory Mountain and Kill-Um-Buck Long Rifle Club. Jim enjoyed history, was somewhat of an historian and was an avid reader. He was known for his cooking and culinary abilities. Jim was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by three daughters: Mary Labaki of Roseville, Heidi (Greg) Smith and Kathryn King both of Zanesville; seven grandchildren: Ashley Labaki, Haven Labaki, Tilli Campbell, Carter Smith, Cutler Smith, Alexander Puskarich and Scarlett King; four brothers: Chuck (Sandy) King of Hebron, Michael (Bekki) King of Lebanon, John (Donna Jones) King and Jeff King both of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by one brother, Patrick King.Friends may call Monday July 6, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville where funeral services to celebrate Jim's life will be held 12 Noon, Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the funeral home with the United States Navy conducting full military honors. Per Jim's wishes a caring cremation will follow. |
