About | Dr. James W. Booth, DVM, 82 of Zanesville passed away on Monday July 1, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Columbus on April 27, 1942, to the late Dr. Edmond J. and Edna Hothem Booth. He was a graduate of Zanesville High School class of 1960, Otterbein University 1961-1963, and The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine 1964-1968. His first job as a veterinarian was at Pine Hollow Farm in New York where his passion as an Equine Veterinarian became nationally known. After moving back to Zanesville, he started Dr. James W. Booth DVM and specialized in Horses. Jim was the operator of E. & J. Crematory for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking his friends meals from the Putnam Tavern and the VFW. Jim served our country and defended our freedom in the United States Army during Vietnam 1968-1969. Jim was a man of few words but had a big heart and loved his family very much. He is survived by his loving wife Pam Swinehart Booth whom he married April 5, 1991; three children: Jody (Ryan) Carpenter, Jayme (Shane) Starkey, and Ted (Kylie) Porter; two brothers Dr. Jack (Sandy) Booth and Jon (Marci) Booth; six grandchildren: J.P. (Melissa) Lichtner, Alex (Mandy) Lichtner, Drew Carpenter, Tyler Carpenter, Adyson Starkey, and Jaycob Starkey; four great grandchildren: Elouise Lichtner, Maxton Bryan, Parker Lichtner, and Cora Lichtner; mother-in-law Patty (Frank) Fry; two sisters in laws: Sue (Daryl) Sowards and Betty Booth; and a brother-in-law Fredric Swinehart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Dr. Joe Booth. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 on Friday July 5, 2024, and one hour prior to services at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. Funeral Service will be 11 am on Saturday July 6, 2024, with Full Military Honors by the VFW Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29 Zanesville. |
