Graduation Year Class of 1961
Date of Birth Jan 03, 1945
Date of Passing Apr 22, 2024
About Jane A. Huguley went home to be with the Lord with her children by her side on April 22, 2024 at the Kemper/Cotter House in Worthington, Ohio. She was born on January 3, 1943 in Zanesville, Ohio to Arie B. Tibbs and Letha Stevens Tibbs. She attended Zanesville Public Schools and graduated from Zanesville High School.
After graduation, Jane worked at Good Samaritan Hospital. In 1965, she was baptized in Jesus' Name and filled with the Holy Ghost at Apostolic Christian Church in Zanesville under the leadership of the late, Elder Frank B. McDonald. Jane resided in Zanesville until she met and married the love of her life, Thomas Huguley on April 7, 1972. Jane moved to Canton, Ohio and became a member of Greater Bethel Apostolic Church. Jane was an active member and held several positions, including: a Deacon's wife, Sunday School teacher, an officer and member of the Women's Auxiliary, and assisted in the kitchen and dining room.
Jane worked for several years at the Canton City Water Department. Later, she was hired by the Canton City School System as an employee of the Early Childhood Development Program. This is where she fulfilled her passion of working with children. Jane loved children and children loved her. She had a gift for storytelling and she could hold the attention of both children and adults. She was also a board member and volunteer for the Canton Public Library.
Jane was known for her infectious smile. She was a loving and kind wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She just loved people and as some might say, she never met a stranger.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Arie and Letha Tibbs; one brother, Ronald B. Tibbs; a son, Byron Huguley and husband, Deacon Thomas Huguley.
Jane leaves to mourn her loss, her children, Carmen McClain of North Carolina, Jeffrey Johnson, Steven Johnson and Valerie (Warren) Spaulding all of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Huguley of Columbus and special son, Kenny Sims of Cleveland; grandchildren, Miguel Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Sakia Ike, Antwione Spaulding, Rahil Huguley and Byron Huguley Jr.; great-grandchildren, Miguel Jr., Lilie, Luca, Layne, Mykala, Iman, Ikera, Gavyn, Mahogany, Zuri and Xavier; goddaughters, Audra Fields and Andrea McCauley.
She also leaves to cherish her memory, special cousins/brothers, Walter, Charles and Jimmy and the sisters she never had, Janet Marshall and Mary Smith; the Golden Girls: Idella Allen, Gloria Brown and Evelyn Henderson; her many Zanesville friends and a host of family and friends.
A special thanks to the owners and staff of the Kemper/Cotter House for the excellent care and compassion that was given to our mother who they treated as one of their own. The family would also like to thank Capital City Hospice and Bri Tuttle from Music Therapy.
Funeral Services will be Saturday April 27, 2024 at 11am at Greater Bethel Apostolic Church (2335 - 15th St. SW, Canton, OH 44706) with District Elder Carlos D. Morris officiating.
