About | Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother passed away peacefully 9:50 AM Sunday April 15, 2018 after a short, spirited battle with cancer. Janice was born in Logan, OH. on Sept. 14, 1929- the daughter of Clyde and Irene Hammer. Her family moved to Zanesville in 1942 and has been a lifelong resident since. She graduated from Lash High School in 1947 and from Bethesda School of Nursing in 1950. She married David Loren Farmer on March 10, 1952. They were married for 38 years until Dad’s passing in 1990. She was an RN for 40 years at Bethesda Hospital and retired in 1990. Janice was also a 50+ yr. member of Faith United Methodist Church-Zanesville. She took great pride and enjoyed her life as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will always be remembered for her trademark attitude of “just keep breathing” – Mom’s universal remedy for every situation. Her clever snippets of wit and wisdom will be dearly missed by all, especially her grandchildren, who were often amused by her scope and sense of humor as well as a candid perspective about life, family and friends. Special gratitude is extended to the staff and nurses at Primrose Retirement Community and Hospice for their gracious care and compassion during Mom’s illness. She is survived by her 4 children and daughters- in-law; Keith (Cindy) - Davidson, NC, Jeff (Jenny)- Grand Rapids, MI, Steve (Martha) and Gail Taylor- Zanesville; 9 grandchildren, Katie (Patrick), Ben, Tyler, Charlie, Will, Carly, Tori (Ryan), Josh, Allie (Todd) and 2 great-grandsons, Tristan and Beckett as well as several nieces and nephews and special friends from the local community. Visitation will be held from 3 PM to 6 PM Sunday, April 22nd at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Zanesville and where funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday April 23rd. Burial will be at Memorial Park – Zanesville immediately following services where Janice will be laid to rest next to her husband, David. |
