About Janice R. Schmidt, 90, of Zanesville, died at 4:10 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2022 at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville. She was born August 11, 1932 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Lantie Ray and Dorothy King Householder. Janice graduated from Lash High School and then went to Meredith Business College and went to work for Roekel’s, Bailey Drugs and as a secretary for Zanesville City Schools. Janice was well known as a local organist for First United Methodist Church, Immanuel United Church of Christ, First Christian Church and Coburn United Methodist Church and was also the organist at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home. She was a member of Coburn United Methodist Church and had served as past president of the Zanesville Band Boosters, the Zanesville Devilette Boosters and the Jr. Bethesda League.

Surviving are a son, Rick (Linda) Schmidt of Zanesville; two daughters, Nancy (Kevin) Robison and Lisa (Rick) Miller; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Alicia), Shawn (Rachel) and Cody (Monika) Miller, Kristen (Matt) Pempin, Andrew( Brandy) and Emily Schmidt and Christopher Robison; eight great grandchildren, Madyson, Lilia, and Mason Pempin; Colin, Lauren, Coulson, Charlie, and Miles Miller; a brother-in-law, Bill Burwell and a sister-in-law, Carol Householder and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William Schmidt, a son, Robert James Schmidt, two brothers, James Householder and Robert Householder and a sister, Virginia Faye Burwell.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M until funeral time at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE WITH Mr. William L. Meaige officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Bill, at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
