About | Jay Donald Ansel, 83 of Zanesville, died 12:41 AM, Friday, September 4, 2015 at Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cambridge. He was born Saturday, October 3, 1931 in Zanesville, the son of Lester Harold Ansel and Tillie (Tipton) Ansel. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and was co-owner of Clossman's Hardware and Sporting Goods and for 17 years he was a Salesman for Dutro Ford in Zanesville. He was a graduate of Lash High School lettering in basketball, football and baseball earning All Ohio. He played football for Miami-Oxford College and played semi-pro football for the Columbus Colts for 4 years. He enjoyed boating, from an early age he was a talented billiards player and was an avid Ohio State Football fan along with all Ohio professional teams especially the, Cleveland Indians, Browns, and the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds. He is survived by his companion and caregiver, Theresa Ansel; two sons, Douglas Jay Ansel and Mark Allen (Molly Gamble) Ansel all of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Laura, Jennifer and Jason; four great grandchildren; one sister, Laura Mae Miller of Zanesville; two special nieces, Julie (Charles) Brooks and Mary Jo (Pat) Lyons, all of Zanesville. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by four sisters; and four brothers. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Mattingly Settlement Cemetery. |
