| About | Jennie Vivian (Durant) Smith, age 78, of Newark, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Vivian was born November 19, 1933 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Floyd and Jennie Durant. Vivian was a 1951 graduate of Lash High School in Zanesville and was an executive secretary at Owens Corning Fiberglas Technical Center in Granville and Federated Department Stores (Lazarus) in Zanesville. She was a volunteer at the Look Up Center. Her interests were art and creative writing and her passion was her family. She is survived by a daughter, Lea Lynn (Ramond) Bonner; grandchildren, Elijah Cherry, Kelley Sorg and Raquel Sorg; great-grandchildren, Jada, Jenneah and Kiera Cherry and Quonaiah Body; sisters, Gertrude Delmoe and Doris Paxson; brothers, Donald Durant and Russell Durant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Ann Sorg; brother, Louis Richard Durant; sister, Lois Evelyn "Diane" West; and brother, Robert Eugene Durant. A celebration of Vivian's life will take place at Noon on Thursday, January 26, at her home. Memorial contributions may be made to our local Hospice.
