About John A. Niceswanger, 71 of Zanesville, passed away 3:46 PM, Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Genesis Morrison House Hospice, following a brief illness. He was born Tuesday, October 2, 1951, in Zanesville, the son of T. Lee Niceswanger and Ruth (Thomas) Niceswanger. He married Amy (Burnett) Niceswanger on Saturday, September 12, 1998.



John was a twenty years proud deep mine coal miner for AEP and was a Corporate Safety Director with Greif Bros. Corporation, where he was a Certified OSHA Trainer. Following his retirement from Greif, he worked part-time with Dow Cameron Oil & Gas until very recently.



He enjoyed drag racing with the NHRA Circuit and traveling across the country racing with his brother, Jeff. John enjoyed riding his motorcycle, storytelling, his back porch swing, good conversation and a good drink. He loved life, had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger.



In addition to his wife, Amy, John is survived by two children, Stephanie (Tye) Jones and Denis (Jodi) Niceswanger; 5 grandchildren, MaKenzie (Lance) Hambrick, Tamara (Jordan) Montgomery, Cody (Rachel Boubary) Niceswanger, Easton (Kaley) Jones, Austin (Alexis Oxley) Niceswanger; four great grandchildren, Brantly, Bowen, Adelyn and Emilia; one brother, Jeff (Sue) Niceswanger; his mother & father-in-law, Jim & Sharon Burnett; two brothers-in-law, Chad (Amy) Burnett and David (Debbie) Burnett; one sister-in-law, Beverly (Jeff) VanMeter; several nieces and nephews and great nieces, his four legged best friends, Barrett and Stormi, and a host of friends.



In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Laikyn Wisecarver.



Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral Services will follow 11:00 AM, Monday, December 12, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Harrop officiating.
