| About | John "Bill" William Bowers, Sr. age 88 of Zanesville died 4:29 AM Monday, February 3, 2014 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born Saturday, January 9, 1926 in Zanesville the son of John P. Bowers and Blanche (Blake) Bowers. He was married on Saturday, June 17, 1950 to Ruth C. (Fattlar) Bowers who preceded him in death on Thursday, July 6, 2006. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and he retired after over 30 years from Brockway glass as a mold shop supervisor. He enjoyed golf, bowling and going on cruises. He is survived by his daughter Catherine L. Baker, Columbus; two sons, John W. Bowers, Jr. of Zanesville, and Robert F. (Kim) Bowers of Marietta, GA; one granddaughter, Melissa Bowers; one grandson, Craig Bowers both of Marietta, GA; one sister, Patsy (Roger) Bronkar of Zanesville; two sisters-in-law, Peggy (Sherry) Dinan of Zanesville and Lucy Yesilosky of Broadview Heights, OH; one brother-in-law Joseph (Joan) Fattlar, of Cleveland, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his son-in-law Richard F. Baker. Burial will conclude in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Zanesville. |
