| About | John "Jack" E. Arter went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. Jack was born in Zanesville on December 27, 1925, the son of the late Frank and Nellie Kinder Arter. He graduated from Lash High School in 1944 and retired from Armco Steel in 1988 after 37 years of service. Jack was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of Meadow Farm Church, Lafayette Lodge 79 F&AM, Muskingum Chapter 485 O.E.S., Valley of Cambridge Scottish Rite and a past volunteer at Bethesda Hospital. Jack was a kind, caring, compassionate and patient husband, father, grandfather and friend. Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Juanita Ballis Arter whom he married September 6, 1947; son David (Sue) Arter of Westerville; daughter Darla (Raphael) Martinez of Gainesville, VA; grandchildren Scott (Jeanne) Arter, Joel Arter, Mitchell Martinez, Maria Martinez, Christopher Martinez, and Laura Martinez; also surviving is a special great-niece Carol (Christopher) Maples of Zanesville. |
