John Stephen “steve” Fenton Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1977
Date of Passing Jun 15, 2016
About John Stephen “Steve” Fenton, 57, of Zanesville, passed away unexpectedly June 15, 2016.

He was born April 3, 1959 in Zanesville and spent his life here. Steve is the son of the late John Francis Fenton and Maryanna Clapper Fenton of Zanesville. A graduate of Zanesville High School, Steve served his city, first following in his father’s footsteps as a firefighter for Zanesville, retiring after 18 years of service. Following retirement, he began his own business, Stephen Fenton Quality Builders, Inc. His business allowed him to follow his passion as a builder and creator of new things. From his youth, he was fascinated by the idea of creating something from nothing, by the ingenuity of his mind and the power of his hands. Building his first home at the age of 18, Steve went on to build and remodel countless homes and buildings throughout Ohio. The quality of his craftsmanship and his reputation of integrity preceded him in his work and personal life. Steve never met a stranger and never failed to help a person in need. He instilled his love of creating in his grandchildren, taking every opportunity to provide them with building projects and the tools to complete them. His work ethic, generosity, and selflessness will be missed.
Steve is survived by his mother: Maryanna Fenton of Zanesville, his loving wife of 37 years: Mary Sue Fenton, son: Chris (Aimee) Fenton of Dresden, daughter: Amy (Fred) Bills of Columbus, grandchildren: Ryder Fenton, Reece Fenton, Logan Bills and Connor Bills, Sister: Jane (Jon) Trent of Algonquin, IL, his brother Michael Fenton of Enfield, Conn, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4p.m.-7p.m. on Sunday June 19th at the Bryan and Hardwick Funeral Home 2318 Maple Ave. Zanesville. Friends may also call, one hour prior to the 11:00 am services at the Funeral Home Monday June 20th with Pastor Mark Chow officiating.
