About | Josephine Sarah Mesre, 58, of Zanesville, died at 11 am Friday, July 29, 1994, at her residence after a long illness. Miss Mesre was born August 29, 1935, in Zanesville. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. She received the Mary Townsend Human Service Award in 1988 from the YWCA for Women of Achievement. Miss Mesre retired from the John McIntire Public Library with 35 years of service. She was responsible for inaugurating the "Story Hour" and other reading programs for children. She also studied children's literature and library science at Ohio University-Zanesville. In her later years at the library, she served as branch supervisor with the out-reach program in the Dresden, New Concord, Roseville and South Zanesville areas. She was also a memeber of the Zanesville Soroptimist Club. Surviving are four brothers, Nicholas Mesre, Moses Mesre, Herbert Mesre and George Mesre, all of Zanesville; one sister, Margaret Mesre of Columbus; one sister, Yvonne Mesre. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. |
