About Julia Laurena Baker was born to Elmer and Mabel Turner in Zanesville, OH, October 2, 1921. She departed this life June 12, 2021. Julia was educated in Zanesville High School and Ohio University, Zanesville branch.

In 1950 she was united in marriage with Robert D. Baker. There were no children born to this relationship, but they enjoyed a wonderful union together.

In 1951 Julia and her husband moved to Columbus, Ohio. She later joined Mt. Olivet Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Charles E. Booth. During her discipleship at Mt. Olivet she served in the Golden Agers, Hunger Outreach Ministry, and the Bereavement Ministry, where she was the head cook for many years. Julia was a wonderful homemaker and seamstress throughout her life.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert D. Baker, two sisters, Vivian Allen and Hazel Woods. She leaves to morn and cherish her memory two nephews, Todd (Toni) Allen and Van E. (Carolyn) Woods and four great nephews, Todd Allen, II, Adrian, Noah and Zachary, one great niece, Charlie Elise Allen, one great nephew, Isaiah Day; several cousins and many friends, including Mary Jane Smith, Phyllis Jean Cooper, Mary and Willis Harris and special angel, Monta Rocker.
