| About | Julie Christine Miller, 81, of Amelia Island, Florida, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 10th, 2022. Julie was predeceased by her husband, Roderick (Rod) Miller. She is survived by their daughter Adrienne Miller of Amelia Island, FL, as well as lifelong friends Petrea and Phil Coelho of Newark, OH, their children Phil (Sandy) Coelho of Antioch, IL, and Julie (Chad) Guthrie of Mount Pleasant, SC and the Coelho's grandchildren Cate Coelho, Lainey Guthrie and Winnie Guthrie; along with beloved cats, many other dear friends and extended family. Born March 17, 1941, in Troy, Ohio she was the only child of the late Robert and Helen Hollingsworth. Julie was graduated from Zanesville High School in 1959 and Ohio University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. While she was at OU she met the love of her life, Rod. They wed in December 1966 in Zanesville, Ohio and resided in Newark, Ohio until Rod's job took them to Lake Forest, Illinois in the early 1980's. In 1997 Julie and Rod visited and fell in love with Amelia Island. There they built their dream home and retired to the island in 2002, enjoying many years of friends and family visiting them year-round. She was a member of Monday Talks, Licking County Art Association and Antiques Study Club. A collector of antiques, stamps, coins and ephemera she took great joy in attending auctions and antique/ephemera shows over the years with Rod. She was also an art teacher, a realtor, a miniature room enthusiast and an avid animal lover, convincing Rod to bring home several strays over the years. She enjoyed golf in her younger years and was a lifetime card and boardgame player. She was a fierce opponent in dominoes, happily taking her guests' money when they lost or extending credit for their IOU's. She had a dry wit that will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorials will be held at a later date on Amelia Island and in Ohio. Her final resting places will be with Rod at both Lake Forest Cemetery in Illinois and in Florida in a room that no one sits in but gets decorated for Christmas. |
