Mrs. Patricia Shaw Withers passed away quietly on Saturday at Wesley Ridge Retirement Community at the age of 93. Born in Zanesville, OH, she was the daughter of John Willis Shaw and Kathryn Wells Shaw and the eldest of six children. After graduating from Zanesville High School and the Christ Hospital School of Nursing, Pat started her 45-year career as a nurse. In 1949, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert D. Withers. Pat was a member of Eastview United Methodist Church in Columbus, OH, and Englewood United Methodist Church in Englewood, FL, and sang in both choirs. She was an avid sports fan and loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert Withers; her son John "Jack" Withers; her parents and three of her sisters – Marjorie "Margie" Strohacker, Phillis "Peggy" New, and Jacqueline "Jackie" Fleming. She is survived by two daughters - Kathryn Zimmerman and Mary Beth (David) Wyss; son James (Nancy) Withers; daughter-in-law Patricia Withers; her six grandchildren - Anne (Michael) Reed, Lt. Colonel Michael (Amanda) Zimmerman, Jessica (Brendan) Murphy, Robert "Bobby" (Caroline) Withers, Laura Wyss, Adam (Cayla) Wyss; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Myrna Granger and brother J.W. Shaw; and many nieces, nephews, relations and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. and Friday November 5, 2021 from 10:30-11:30 am at SCHOEDINGER EAST, 5360 E Livingston Ave in Columbus, Ohio 43232 where funeral service will be held 11:30 am Friday, November 5, 2021, immediately followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. |
