About | Kurt Anthony Rogers, age 58, of Springfield IL, died Friday, January 21, 2022 at Memorial Health in Springfield. Kurt was born August 19, 1963 in Zanesville, OH to Loretta M. (Hale) Rogers and the late Thomas N. Rogers Jr., both of Zanesville. Kurt married Mary Lou Bettis on June 1, 1996, and she survives. Kurt is also survived by four sons, Donte Rogers and Lance Rogers of Pittsburgh, PA, Brian-Thomas Rogers and Nicholas Rogers of Springfield, IL. Kurt is also survived by his mother, Loretta Rogers of Zanesville; a host of siblings and other family members; Kurt is also survived by four special grandkids that were near and dear to his heart; Aria, Mason, Elise and Dorian. Kurt graduated from Zanesville High School in Ohio. He was a veteran and served honorably in the US Navy aboard the USS Brumby. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion in Springfield IL. Kurt retired as a Correctional Sergeant from the Illinois Department of Corrections after 25 years of service. Kurt's passion was football. He played for Zanesville High School with great admiration for his Coach, Ron Apperson. Kurt was also an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. Kurt was a Volunteer Head Coach for the Southeast Packers in the Springfield Junior Football League for many years. Kurt had a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews that will miss him terribly. Services for Kurt will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 12 p.m. in Zanesville. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery's Soldier's Circle. |
