About Kurt E. Dittmar, age 69 of Zanesville, died 10:52 PM, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Helen Purcell Home following complications of Alzheimer's. He was born Wednesday, October 9, 1946 in Zanesville, the son of Fred E. Dittmar and Jean Marie (Hoover) Dittmar. He married his wife of 50 years, Penny (Averill) Dittmar on Saturday, January 22, 1966 and attended Westwood Baptist Church.

Kurt was founder of K.E. Dittmar Company, Inc. and served on the Tri Valley Board of Education, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Eastside Community Ministries Boards and served as president of the Muskingum County Home Builders Association. He was a member of Zanesville Noon Rotary and was very active in the Muskingum County Sheriffs Jail Ministry. He was co-founder and co-creator of Grandpopscorn Kettle Corn Company and loved the outdoors. Kurt was a very outgoing and friendly man who never met a stranger. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who deeply cared for his family
Kurt is survived by his wife: Penny; two daughters: Denise (Keith) Brown of Marysville and Andrea (Richard) Gillette of Springboro; one son: Ben (Amber) Dittmar of Zanesville; seven grandchildren: Brad & Kaleb Brown, Anna Rose & Elijah Gillette and Cyrus, Eva & Ingrid Dittmar; one sister: Lynn E. Fulks-Moehrman and her husband, Robert Moehrman of Zanesville; one brother & sister-in-law: Steve (Pam) Averill of Michigan; brother by choice: Jim (Lynda) Sharrer of Zanesville; dear friends: Pete Rapol, Lew Stiers, Ron Baldwin, Jeff Jack & Jerry Combs all of Zanesville; nieces and nephews: Lisa (Paul) Yurco of Cambridge, Lance (Dawn) Fulks of Coshocton, Pete (Rhonda) Fulks of Zanesville, Katy (Troy) Hawthorne of Cambridge, David (Michelle) Moehrman of Texas and Jessica Averill and Abby Averill of Michigan.

Kurt was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law: Paul Fulks.
