About | L. Jean Shuey, 83, of Zanesville, died at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at Genesis Good Samaritan emergency room. She was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Lewis and Virtue Baker Showalters. She graduated from Lash High School class of 1943, was a member of Finley United Methodist Church, the Ladies Aid Society and WSCS. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Kenneth C. Shuey of the home, whom she married July 4, 1945; a son, John Allen (Judy) Shuey of Shelbyville, Ind.; three daughters, Carol Joseph of Westerville, Patricia (Luke Jr.) Young of Zanesville and Elizabeth Rath of Hopewell; eight grandchildren, Erich (Betsy) Joseph, Patrick Joseph, Bethany (Pat) Renaud, Matthew Wagner, Michael Wagner, Erin (David) Robbins, Jessica Billy and Ryan Shuey; three great-grandchildren, Lauren and Will Renaud and Owen Joseph; and three sisters, Mary Bowers of Zanesville, Martha Davis of Columbus and Ethel Hurley of Plantation, Fla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Showalters and Blanche Wolf. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 5, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave. Funeral services are 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
