About | MANSFIELD: Larry Lee Smith, 69, of Mansfield, died Friday, February 13, 2015 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield. Born August 27, 1945 in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of Ralph Ray Mitchell and Grace Eugene (Weaver) Smith. Larry worked for 26 years as a maintenance electrician for Flxible Company in Loudonville and, after the company closed, drove bus for the City of Mansfield. A very competitive person, Larry was an avid poker player and was passionate about golf. He was very proud to be a starting tackle for the 1962 Zanesville Blue Devils. He was All Ohio in football and qualified for the state track and field championships in shot put. Following high school, Larry played a couple of years for the semi pro football team, The Mohican Raiders. He was a mason with the Grand Lodge of F. & A.M. of Ohio, Hanover Lodge #0115. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Glenna (Winters) Smith; children, Misti (Scott) Ronfeldt of California, Robyn (Kevin) Kemp, Chad (Cheryl) Smith both of Columbus, Ohio, Joshua (Carol) Smith of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Jacob (Lisa) Smith of Zanesville, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild; three sisters, Darlene (Bud) Clarke of Zanesville, Ohio, Karen (Lynn) Mills of Des Moines, Iowa and Grace Smith of Zanesville, Ohio; one brother, Grant Smith of Columbus, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Smith. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. His brother-in-law, Tom Winters will conduct the service. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association |
