About Linda Sue (Smitley) Sutton, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at the age of 79 on Wed. July 7, 2021. Linda was born on August 8, 1941 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Corbyn and Treva (Gillogly) Smitley. She was a 1959 Zanesville High School graduate, attended Meredith Business College and was a lifelong member of Brighton Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Ernest C. Sutton, Jr. A brother William (Bill) Smitley.

Linda was employed by Hall’s Restaurant, Heinrich Paper & Supply, and Zandex Healthcare. She was a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and on many committees at Brighton Presbyterian Church. You would know when Linda was near with her sweet smell of her favorite perfume Estee Lauder Youth Dew, and a laugh that could illuminate a room. She was best known for her Texas Sheet Cake, which was requested at every event she attended, and now has been passed down to her granddaughters for many generations to come. Linda enjoyed traveling, whether that was by her late husband’s boat or car, and spending time with friends and family.

Linda leaves behind wonderful memories to her daughter Amy (Scott) Nolan; her granddaughters Stephanie (Trenton Jr.) Morrell, Tiffanie (Roger III) Triplett, Ashley Nolan (Cody Nott), Tami Nolan, and Abbey Nolan; her great-grandsons Roger, Trenton III, Logan, and Aiden;her surviving brothers Carl and Neal Smitley; and her many friends and family.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday July 9, 2021 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 10, 2021. Burial will be in Chandlersville Cemetery.
