| About | A Homegoing Service celebrating the life of Lois Patricia Singleton, 82, of Newark, will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, with Rev. Clifton R. Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery at a later date, where she will be buried with her husband, John Wesley Singleton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, two hours prior to the funeral service on Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Lois was born in Zanesville, Ohio on May 22, 1941 to the late Walter E. Bailey and Alberta (Adams) Williams. She passed away on February 24, 2024 at Altercare Newark South. Prior to retirement, Lois worked for Racine Hydraulics in Zanesville from 1976 to 1985; Newark Air Force Base from 1985 to 1994; and transferred to DFAS in Columbus, retiring in 2003. Lois was a member of St. Paul AME Church and Union Baptist Church in Zanesville for many years, where she was the director of the Gospel Choir at Union Baptist for over 20 years. She was also a member of Trinity AME Church in Newark for many years, where she was past president of Louise Evans Missionary Society and sang in the Senior Choir. She was past president of Levi Phillips American Legion Auxiliary #85; past district president, past treasurer, and past Chaplain of the 6th District of the Ohio American Legion Auxiliary. She was also chairman of various committees at the state level of the Ohio American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her children, LuSter “Sheila” P. (Alli) Singleton, Jeffrey W. (Beverly) Singleton Sr., Crystal A. (Gene) Hughey and Warren E. (Cory) Singleton; brother, Fred Bailey; grandchildren, Karl (Natahsa) Rose, Justin J. (Rachel) Hughey, Jericah L. (Brandon) Harney, Jeffrey W. Singleton Jr., Olivia Singleton, Trajen M. Singleton, Eden M. Singleton-Tarr, Damian M. Singleton and Brynt M. Singleton-Tarr; great grandchildren, Isaiah Stinnett, Kami Rose, Kylee Rose, Kire E. Lucas Rose, Aesen J. Hughey, Adrain W. Singleton, Brandon Harney Jr., Bradley Harney, Tyler Harney, Tyden Harney, Della Rae Singleton, Roman Singleton and Archer W. Pickrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Wesley Singleton, whom she married August 5, 1961, and who went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2024; and sister-in-law, Rosemary Bailey. |
