About | GREENFIELD: Loren Grant "Bud" Imes of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away on July 15, 2011 at the age of 87. He was born September 11, 1923 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late James W. and Bertha Margaret (Buchanan) Imes. He was a WWII US Army/Air Corps veteran who served three years in the European theater. He attended Ohio State University and was a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music-University of Cincinnati, and received a Masters in Music degree from Butler University. Bud was a beloved band director, giving multiple generations the gift of music for 36 years with 33 of those years in the Greenfield public school system. Bud was also a well respected professional musician playing trombone in jazz bands for many years in both Cincinnati and Indianapolis. He played for President Reagan, Gov. Otis Bowen and many celebrities and movie stars. He was a member of Bradley United Methodist Church, the American Federation of Musicians, the Elks Lodge, the American Legion Post 119 and the Hancock County Public Library board. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Norma Jean Imes. Bud is survived by his sister, Janet Davis of Zanesville, Ohio, his children: Cindy Anderson of Campbell, California, Grant Imes of Greenfield, Indiana, and David Imes of Danville, Illinois and his two grandchildren: Drew Anderson and Aaron Imes. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Greenfield. |
