About | Mark Alan Rucker, 69, passed away at his residence Monday, March 29, 2021. He was born September 19, 1951 in Zanesville to the late Albert Curtis “Ace” and Gwendolyn Joan Mauk Rucker. He was a 1969 graduate of Zanesville High School and graduated from the Natural Resources program at Muskingum Area Technical School. Mark was a member of the Zanesville Fire Department from 1981 to 2005, and then he was employed with the City of Zanesville Traffic Maintenance Department until his retirement in 2018. He served his country and protected our freedom in the Army Reserve from 1969 to 1975. He was a member of the VFW Post #1058, Am Vets Post #51, American Legion Post #29 and the Eagles Aerie #302. Surviving are his wife of 49 years Ellen Gildow Rucker, who he married December 10, 1971; children: Bradley Rucker, Karen Rucker, Wendi (Mark) Decker and Lindsay Rucker; a brother Dale (Brenda) Rucker; two sisters: Jane (Joel) Melin and Kay Lavelle; six grandchildren: Joey Rucker, Danny Rucker, Alex Rucker, Cheyanne Decker, Maddie Decker and Noah Decker; great grandson Beau Milby; brothers and sisters in law: Fred (Viqui) Gildow, Kenny (Tracy) Gildow, Linda (Joe) Rocca and Karen (Thad) Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
