About Marlene Joy Finan, 93 of Columbus, Ohio, died at home July 8, 2026.Born July 16, 1932 in Zanesville to James and Freda (Murgatroyd) Maxwell. Upon graduation from Lash High School Marlene entered Good Samaritan School of Nursing earning her R.N. certification in 1953. Her marriage to Joe Finan in 1958 produced 5 children in 5 years, prompting the abandonment of her nursing career for 10 years. She subsequently entered OSU'S "REFRESHER" program for older nurses and resumed her career at the old St. Anthony hospital. A longtime resident of Bexley/Eastmoor, Marlene was a member of St. Catharine of Sienna parish, its "house wives" funeral choir and a faithful volunteer at J.O.I.N. Together with her husband she was active in forming the Hispanic community (Cristo Rey) at Christ the King parish in the early 90's. She is survived by her 5 children: Patrick (Janis) Memphis, TN - Margaret (Luis Cervera-deceased) Madrid, Spain - Matthew (Kathleen) Pittsburgh PA - Leticia (Peter) Overholt, Ft. Sheridan, II. Amy Finan (Craig Snedeker–deceased) Easton, MD-5 great grandchildren, 10 grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews. The family is forever grateful to several caregivers who enabled Marlene to remain in her home. Their commitment and loving care made all the difference to Marlene and family. Debbie Campbell, Diane Carroll, Chevelle Williams, Cheseta Davenport, Chrissy Peck, Tisha Tate and Renee Riley. They are affectionally known as the God Squad and are proof that angels walk among us. Friends may call Friday, July 17 from 4-7pm at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 18 at 10:30am at St. Catharine Church, 500 South Gould Road. Burial at Mattingly Settlement, Dresden, Ohio
