About | Marvin Douglas “Doug” Thomas, 67, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family at Genesis HealthCare System, Zanesville at 2:33 P.M. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Doug was born on April 17, 1953 in Zanesville, OH to the late Dale & Juanita (Wood) Thomas. He was a coal miner for Peabody Coal Company and a carpenter, working for several local construction companies over the years. Doug loved going to the beach, drinking extra sweet tea, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and The History Channel, mushroom hunting, listening to music from Jimmy Buffett and The Beatles and having cookouts with his family. He is survived by his wife, Connie S. Thomas, whom he married on January 7, 2001; daughter Chastity (Rob) Graham; son Doug (Jessica) Thomas; stepson Royce Coates; stepdaughter Stacey Coates; four grandchildren, Blake Batteiger, Jacob (Ashley Mayle) Batteiger, Lucas Graham and Stella Thomas; three great grandchildren, Gunner, Lillyan and Bennett Batteiger; two step-grandchildren, Michael and Nick Coates; two sisters, Kathy (Don) Adams, Judy (John) Bates; nieces Lisa (Troy) Mumford, Shelly (Pat) Cooper, Connie (Kenny) Dickey and Chris (Matt) Vermilion; several cousins and his beloved cocker spaniel, Maggie. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his fur-babies Joey & Diva. His family would like to thank Dr. Barbara Changizi at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center for Neuromodulation, the staff at Continuing Health Care at Beckett House, Dr. Raul A. Hernandez and Genesis HealthCare System for their care and compassion over the years. A private family graveside service will be held at Zanesville Memorial Park, Zanesville with Mr. Chris Steele officiating. |
