About | Marvin Lee “Stevie” Stephens, 84, of Zanesville, died at 5:58 P.M. on Monday, June 13, 2016, at his home. He was born December 19, 1931, in Zanesville, a son of the late Lee Stephens and Ethel Dixon Stephens Short. Stevie was a 1951 graduate from Lash High School, retired from Nickles Bakery after 35 years of service, and attended Putnam Presbyterian Church. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served as a military paratrooper from 1953 to 1955. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Julia “Judy” Anders Stephens, of the home; four children, Terry (Candy) Stephens of Chandlersville, Tamie Miller, Larry Stephens, and Joey (Robin) Stephens, all of Zanesville; three brothers, Melvin (Diane) Short of Naples, FL, Denny Short of Columbus and Jerry (Cathy) Short of Zanesville; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and special pets Brittany and Bingo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father William Harvey Short; and a daughter-in-law Lisa Ann Pettry. A private family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date at the family farm with military honors presented by the United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058 and American Legion Post #29. |
