About | Mary Diane Gribben, 82 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2024, at the Genesis Morrison House of Zanesville. She was born on April 1, 1942, in Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Harold Edward Gribben and Mary Mae Van Orsdale. Mary graduated in 1960 from Zanesville High School. She was a veteran of the Army, having served from 1961-1989. She was a decorated sharpshooter with the M-16 Rifle, deployed to Germany, France, and Okinawa, and even served as a drill sergeant, being one of the first women to command a platoon. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 29 of Zanesville. Mary worked at the Veterans Administrations office in San Antonio, Texas and later worked at Genesis Hospital in the Cardiovascular department. She is survived by her guardian angels, Doug Perry and Joan (Ray-Her special Uber Driver) Rothenstine; special young lady and family, Rita, Donovan, and Isaac; many other nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; special friends, Joe and Keith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley Perry, Judith Welch, Joyce Gribben, Jayne Dady, Carol Binkley; and brother, Walter Gribben. Calling hours will be held on Saturday May 11, 2024, from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1:00 PM with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating. Full military honors will be presented by The United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29. Following services, a dignified cremation will take place. Mary will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Zanesville, Ohio. |
