About | Mary Lou Gomillion of San Antonio passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at her home on January 3, 2011. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio, to Ralph and Lillian Maier. She met and married Davis Gomillion while working at Mosaic Tile. She and Davis lived in several cities in Texas, and in Jackson, Mississippi, which was an especially happy period of her life. A faithful and religious woman, Mary Lou believed in the importance of service to others. Especially meaningful to her was her volunteer work with Bexar Home Comforts and Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she focused on the needs of the mentally ill and the needy. Mary Lou was very artistic, which was evident in her exquisite needlework, masterful cooking, and domestic crafts. Mary Lou is preceded in death by her sons, Doug and Paul Gomillion; brother, John Maier; and her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Davis Gomillion; son, Marc and wife, Mindy of Austin, son, Matt and partner, Scott Builione of New York City; daughter, Dede Hilton and husband, Ken of Dripping Springs; and grandchildren, Chase and Sarah Gomillion, and Zander, Cole, Katie, and Matthew Hilton; she is also survived by her sister, Becky Pletcher; and sister-in-law, Marge Maier, both of Ohio. Mary Lou was a gentle, intelligent, and loving person deeply devoted to her family and friends. Her legacy will be lived forward in her example of simple and purposeful love. We love and miss you! |
