About Mary Lou Korn, of Longmont, Colorado, formerly of Zanesville, Ohio, died September 20, 2009 at Longmont United Hospital.

She was born July 23, 1916 in Mansfield, Ohio to Howard and Lulu (White) Silvus. She moved to Zanesville, Ohio as a child.

Mary Lou graduated from Zanesville High School. She married Russell Cohagan and they later divorced. She then married Edward F. Korn on May 29, 1946.

She was employed part-time as a dental and medical doctor assistant. She retired in 1978.

Mary Lou was a member of Euclid Avenue United Methodist Church in Zanesville, where she was a member of the Methodist Women's Circle. She was also a member of the Rebecca Lodge, where she served in all of the stations. She loved to dance, play the piano and organ and make crafts. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and she loved to travel. Mary Lou had visited most of the United States as well as the British Isles, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. She was a dog lover, especially her Yorkie, Katie. The Korns moved to Longmont in 2003.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, David R. Cohagan on December 25, 2006.

Survivors include her husband, Edward F. Korn; three daughters, Dianne L. Reese (John) of Lakeland, Florida, Christine E. Shaver (Bruce) of Longmont, and Sally Hale of Longmont; eight grandchildren, David Cohagan, Jr., Rebecca Cohagan, Joseph Cohagan, Deborah Dixon, Lori Murphy, Scott Shaver, Stacey Tinch and Melissa France; a step-grandchild, Michelle Thomas; fifteen great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be 7 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Longmont Humane Society and sent to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
