| About | Mary Patricia "Patty" French Baker, 86 of Zanesville, died 3:35 AM Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice. She was born Friday, January 15, 1926 in Zanesville, the daughter of Walter Huntt French and Bonita (McCarthy) French. She married Frederick Frazier Baker on Monday, September 24, 1947. She was a very active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she worked in the Parish Office and served as Eucharistic Minister. Patty was a graduate of Lash High School and Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Patty was a Registered Nurse with Good Samaritan Hospital and later worked with her husband in the family business, Baker’s Dairy Isle. She was a member of Good Samaritan Charity Circle, Chatauqua Reading Club, Junior Women’s Club, an avid bridge player and loved to travel. Patty is survived by four daughters: Dorothea French, PhD and Mark of Port Angeles, WA; Marian Bessy, BA and Ranjit of Charlotte, NC, Candia Laughlin, MS, RN-BC and Harry of Ann Arbor, MI and Martha Baker, PhD, AICP of Baltimore, MD; five sons: Col. (Ret.) Daniel Baker, MS, MA and Kathryn of Great Falls, VA, Frederick Baker of Ypsilanti, MI, Douglas Baker, BA of Zanesville, David Baker, Esq. and Jamie of Dallas, TX and James Baker, MA and Robin of Zanesville; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers: Walter French and Betty Jane of New Cumberland, PA, James French and Judy of Ft. Myers, FL and J. Thomas French and Vicky of Zanesville and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her husband: Frederick Frazier Baker who died January 25, 1990 and one daughter-in-law: Erika Baker. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, January 20, 2012 at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue where a Christian Vigil will be held at 7:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Fr. Jordan Turano, O.P. as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. |
