About Maurice C. Kenily, 81, of Zanesville, died at 9:31 A.M. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Genesis Good Samaritan Emergency Room. He was born February 16, 1933, in Zanesville, a son of the late Charles Maurice "Shad" and Alice Caton Kenily. He was raised by his grandmother, the late Jennie Beatty, after his parent's death when he was young. He graduated from Lash High School, was a United States Army Veteran, received his BA of Fine Arts from the University of Houston and his BA of Sociology from Ohio University Zanesville, and retired after 32 years at Licking County Social Service. Maurice was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir for over 50 years, and served in many other capacities. He was a founding member of the Zanesville Community Theater where he acted and directed; the theater was his life. Maurice was a professional actor, having gotten his start in Houston, Texas, where he was an actor at the Alley Theatre and performed in off Broadway productions.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Sharla Rose Gookins Kenily, whom he married September 14, 1968; two daughters, Audria (Geoffrey) Feict of Blacklick, and Kristen (Dan) Kenily Shuey of New Albany; a son Sean Kenily of Zanesville; and six grandchildren, Karrie, Shad, Zach, Jacob, Noah, and Max.

He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
