About | Max H. Findeiss of 2529 Dresden Rd., prominent Zanesville businessman and civic leader died at midnight, April 12, 1958 at University Hospital where he had been a patient for the past 10 days. He had been in critical condition since entering the hospital. Mr. Findeiss was 61 years old. He was a member of the Board of Directoors of the First National Bank at the time of his death. He also was vice president and a member of the Board of Softwater Service Inc. Mr. Findeiss was born in Zanesville on December 22, 1896, a son of the late Christian and Sophia Findeiss. Mr. Findeiss attended Ohio State University and was graduated from Columbia University in 1920, after which he joined his father in the C. Findeiss & Sons Leather Co. He was a veteran of WWI. In the leather company, Mr. Findeiss held the positions of vice president, secretary, assistant manager and sales manager. Mr. Findeiss was a member of the Board of Trustees of the First Evangelical United Brethren Church. He was a member of the Rotary Club and was prominent in its activites. In 1953, he attended the Rotary International convention in Europe. Mr Findeiss was also a member of the Zanesville Lodge of Elks and the Zanesville Concert Assn, of which he was a former president and was a trustee of Muskingum College. Surviving are his widow, the former Norma Riecker whom he married May 12, 1953; one brother, William,of 633 Fairmont Ave.; and two sisters, Miss Margaret Findeiss and Miss Rose Findeiss of 526 Putnam Ave. Mr. Findeiss will be interred in Greenwood Cemetery. |
