About | THE VILLAGES, FL: Merle L. Browning, 72, passed from this life, Tuesday, January 7, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Born May 01, 1941 in Zanesville, Ohio son of the late Clarence and Thelma (King) Browning. Merle was a traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration at the Control Centers in Indianapolis Indiana, San Juan, Puerto Rico and Houston, TX. After his FAA career Merle and wife Carol owned and operated Kingwood Computer Center in Kingwood, TX. until retiring in 2002 and moving to the Villages in 2004. Merle was a member of the First Baptist Church at The Villages, where he served as usher. He was a member of the Caring Sharing Villagers, 3 C's Ohio Club, The Villages Masonic Lodge #394 Wildwood, FL, and Masonic Lodge #979 Humble TX. Tri County High Twelve Club #674, Arabia Shiners Houston, TX. Bahia Temple Orlando, FL Past President of Lake Houston Shrine Club Humble, TX. Besides his parents, Merle was predeceased by a son, Scott Browning; sister, Waveline Kusmits; and brother, Wayne Browning. Merle is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol (McGee) Browning; daughter, Sheri Bernstein; two grandsons Michael Wilhite, Cody Bernstein; a great-granddaughter, Alice Marie Bernstein; three sisters, Jeanie (Gene) Shipley Roseville, OH, Linda (Chuck) Quinn Zanesville, OH, Carolyn (Mike) Allen of Louisville, KY; a brother, Larry (Donna) Browning of Centerville, OH; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life for Merle Browning will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24th, 2014 at Zanesville Country Club Zanesville, Ohio.
