| About | Michael Anthony Smith, 76, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. He was born July 28, 1949, in Zanesville to the late Isaac W. and Dorothy Smith Jr. Michael was a 1967 graduate of Zanesville High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Social Work/Psychology from Ohio University Athens in 1971; where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He retired from the City of Zanesville as an Electrical Inspector. After his retirement he was a volunteer for Genesis Hospital and Genesis Hospice Morrison House. He was an avid reader and enjoyed scuba diving, motorcycles, euchre, pistols and shotguns. He was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He is survived by his son Brad T. Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane Redmond Smith; his father and mother in law Richard and Mary Katherine Redmond; and his brother in law Darrell Redmond. Memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society, PO Box 54879, Los Angeles, CA 90054. No calling hours will be observed.
