About Michael Lee Smith, 73 of Nashport passed away on Saturday January 15, 2022 at his residence following a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Michael was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late David (Mary Ann Patrick) Smith. A well-known area business man having been the former owner of Clark Service Station on Maple Avenue. He spent a lot of time bowling at Sunrise and Military Lanes. Michael loved all sports. He served our Country and protected our freedom in The United States Army. After two tours in Vietnam he came home a decorated War Hero having received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation, Air Medal, and a Bronze Star Medal. He is survived by a son: Gene Patrick (Misty Dennis) Smith, two brothers: Dan Smith and Pat Smith, four grandchildren: Kyle (Taylor) Smith, Madison (Nate Vallee) Smith, Laikyn (Aubree Sherman) Smith, and Angeleena (Tyler) Messerschmidt, four great grandchildren: Cooper Smith, Sage Smith, Sailor Smith, and Gatlin Vallee, and a special friend and caregiver Gary Howard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Diane Gadd Smith and a daughter in law Tammy Smith.
