Nancy J. Crowley Brooks Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1962
Date of Passing Jan 13, 2018
About Nancy Jacqueline "Jackie" Brooks, 73 of Worthington died Jan 13 at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a short illness. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed creating a beautiful home, cooking and hosting big family gatherings. She raised two generations of children, had a career as a merchandiser and sales manager for Procter and Gamble and other food brokers, and, in her spare times, drove race cars.

She was born April 22, 1944 in Zanesville, to the late Coy and Jewel Crowley. She graduated from Zanesville HS in 19662. In 1969, she married William R. Brooks, her high school sweetheart. They lived in Huntington, W.VA., and Louisville, Ky., moving to Worthington in the mid 1980's to raise their sons near extended family. After the boys graduated high school, Jackie turned her energy to her passion for race car driving. She belonged to the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) for 15 years. For many of those years, Jackie was one of few women behind the wheel of a car careening around race tracks throughout the Midwest. She was also a golfer in her younger years, and belonged to the Delaware Country Club for 20 years. About 13 years ago, her and Bill's life changed when they welcomed into their home their young granddaughters, Milissa and Ashlee Brooks. Jackie helped shape them into kind, beautiful young women. And always said they kept her young.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an aunt, Gladys Bishop, and a brother, Harry Crowley. She is survived by her husband, William R. Brooks, son William M. Brooks (Josie Smathers) of Columbus, son Robert A. Brooks, of Columbus, her grandchildren Milissa, Ashlee, Reece, and Cohen Brooks, her brother Pete (Judy) Crowley of Zanesville. She is also survived by her nieces April Mason of Aurora, Neb., Janette Bachman of Downington, PA., and Lori (Doug) Morrow of Columbus. Other survivors include sister in law Candy Brooks (Steve Rodocker) of Worthington, nephew Peter (Jen) Rodocker and their children Jackson, Lily, and Luke, of Westerville; brother-in-law Christopher Brooks (Jennifer Rawlings) of Los Angeles, and Bill's aunt and uncle and close friendsRobert and Constance Kocher of Canton.
