About | Paul F. Ridgley of South Zanesville passed away at 11:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009 at his residence. He passed peacefully at his home with his beloved wife Marlene and daughter Amy at his side. He was born March 4, 1930 in Zanesville to the late Edith Carpenter Ridgley and Harry F. Ridgley. He grew up in Chesterhill where he treasured many happy childhood memories. The family later moved to Zanesville where he graduated in the 1947 class of Lash High School. Mr. Ridgley worked at Zuland's Drug Store, Hazel Atlas Glass and McGraw Edison. He attended Ohio University, graduating with a bachelor's Degree in Education. He then attended Morehead State for his Master's Degree in counseling. He later became a truck driver for different companies and was a 20 year veteran of the Ohio Air National Guard and a Baptist by faith. Paul enjoyed traveling, golfing and reading. Mr. Ridgley is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Marlene Smith Ridgley; his daughter, Amy of Columbus; brothers, Wendell of Lima, Dana of Rhode Island and Glenn of Zanesville; a sister, Virginia Evans of Columbus; many nieces, nephews and their children along with special friends, Rose and Pat McDonald. Mr. Ridgley was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Beulah & James Smith and a brother-in-law, Dan Smith. Calling hours will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, 56 South 5th St.. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Seese officiating. Burial will take place at Zanesville Memorial Park. |
