Paul Thomas “Tom” Eppley, 70, of Fultonham, passed away at his home peacefully in his sleep on January 25, 2022. He was born on November 8, 1951 in Zanesville, a son of the late Robert and Mary Lou Eppley. Tom was a beloved teacher and father figure to more than just his own kids. Many of you knew him as Mr. Eppley, as a teacher, bus driver, farmer, or someone he just met. Tom would say “If I couldn’t leave someone smiling, I shouldn’t have been talking to them in the first place.” Tom was a graduate of the Ohio State University. He taught two years in Clyde, Ohio in the Ag Production Program, then taught 14 years at Muskingum Joint Vocational School until the Ag Program was eliminated from the curriculum. He went on to teach two years at Morgan, then a year at Miller in the Multiple Handicapped program, and finally a year at Tri-Valley. Tom was proud of teaching seven different subjects for a particular grade level, he held three permanent teaching certificates, and at one time was the only qualified driver of the transit bus at Maysville. Outside of teaching, Tom loved farming which he did for over 50 years, was an avid reader, a history buff, loved music, loved singing (going back to being a member of the All Ohio State Youth Choir), and dearly loved his family. Tom leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years Kathy (Oyster) Eppley. One daughter Patricia (Levi) Larsen. One son David T. Eppley. Two granddaughters Ivell and Rowan Larsen. One sister Nancy (Fred) Shaw. Many beloved nieces and nephews. One first cousin William (Bill) Eppley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son John Thomas Eppley. One brother David Lee Eppley. First cousins Marvin Eppley and Raymond Thompson. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p..m.
