About MOUNT VERNON: Paul W. "Bill" Black, age 83, of Mount Vernon, passed away on January 22, 2013 at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on May 3, 1929 in Zanesville to the late Dr. Paul D. and Florence (McClure) Black.

Bill graduated from Lash High School in 1947 and received his BA in Business from Muskingum College in 1951. He then joined the U.S. Army and served from 1951-1953 in Trieste, Italy. He returned to work in sales at Mosaic Tile Co. until Jan. of 1955 when he followed his true passion of automobiles. Bill was the former owner of Bill Black Ford, Lincoln and Mercury Dealership here in Mount Vernon and retired in 1981.

He was very active in the community through his years in business. Bill was a past president of Kiwanis club and had 21 yrs. of perfect attendance, past president of YMCA Board of Trustees, former trustee and elder of Central Presbyterian Church in Zanesville, past trustee for First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon and a past elder for Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Zanesville.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Donna Lee (Miller) Black; his three children, Paul W. "Bill" (Shari) Black II, Susan E. (Mike) Black and Douglas J. Black; two grandchildren, Preston Paul Black and Megan Manley; a great-granddaughter, Adrianna Black; sister, Sara Ann "Sally" Bedsworth; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Knicely.

There will be no calling hours. Private burial will be held in Zanesville Memorial Park.
