Phillip D. Harper Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1960
Date of Passing Dec 24, 2021
About Phillip Denver Harper, 78, of Cincinnati, Ohio peacefully passed away at 11:58 a.m. on Thursday, December 24th, 2020, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. A loving husband, father, and grandfather he was born the son of the late Denver and Edna (Wagner) Harper in Zanesville, OH, July 21st, 1942. Living all but the last few years of his life in Zanesville, he was a business owner, and beloved advisor to all that knew him. Phil (lovingly known as “Pinky” by his closest friends and family), spent much of his career as the owner of Southside Rods and Restoration – a classic car restoration center and builder of award-winning hot rods. For many years he was also the manager of Fink’s Southside Collision. A fervent believer in the “working man”, Phil championed anyone who needed a chance to earn a living by applying their trade or to learn a new one- through the years he mentored and employed many. Having walked many paths through life, he had a profound love and appreciation for everyone. He knew how to share their pain, as well as their joy, and always saw the unique talents and abilities they possessed. With that insight, empathy, and his larger than life personality; his absence shall be sorely missed. He was member of the Muskingum Lodge #368 F&AM, he was a 32nd degree member and member of the Scottish Rite of Cambridge.

Surviving are his wife Tamara (Malone) Harper of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters Deborah (Tom) Moyers of Chattanooga, TN and Alissa (Brian) Pease of Cincinnati, OH; five grandchildren R. Heath Garber of Atlanta, GA, Abby (Kevin) Borino of Chattanooga, TN, Jack H. Pease, Matthew G. Pease, and Grace M. Pease all of Cincinnati, OH; one great-grandson Clayton M. White of Chattanooga, TN; one sister Martha (Harper) Davis of Lancaster, OH; nieces and nephews of OH; Ralph Davis, Stephanie (Scott) Turney, Tad (Angie) Gibson, Heather Hardwick, Tracy (Rick) Blevins, Teresa (Smiley) Bennett. Additionally, he leaves behind several great nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Virginia (Larry) Gibson, and Eleanor (Bradley) Smith, his niece Jennifer (Davis) Craiglow, and his in laws James A. and Betty Malone.

Private family services will be held at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with burial at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
