| About | Phyllis Sue South, 80 of Delaware and formerly of California, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 15, 2023 at her residence. Born July 27, 1942 in Zanesville, Ohio the daughter of the late John & Mary (Allbright) Dunlap. Sue graduated from Zanesville High School in 1960, and would go on to receive her Master’s Degree in Gifted and Talented Education in 1988 from the University of Toledo. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband to her children Jon Hastings, second husband John Henry South III, and son Eric Thomas Hastings. Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter Renee Hastings; grandson Kyle Hastings; brother John (Theresa) Dunlap; sister Linda Yaw; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sue enjoyed being an art teacher, from painting, and woodworking, to making jewelry, and gardening. She loved animals, including her cats in California that she had to leave behind, and the dogs here in Ohio. Sue learned to fly a Cessna 172, and enjoyed flying. She was a proud and independent individual, who was loving, caring, and sympathetic. It was Phyllis' request to be cremated, no services will take place at this time. |
