About | Ralph Eugene "Gene" Mast 78 of Nashport passed away at his residence at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011. He was born Sunday, June 12, 1933, the son of Ralph W. Mast and Emma Rose Switzer Mast. He was a graduate of Lash High school class of 1951. Gene worked at Burnham Foundry for 14 years, Greif Brothers for 21 years and Lumi- Lite Candle Factory in Norwich. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Zanesville. He also rebuilt two airplanes and beautiful custom made fiddles. He loved country music and square dancing. In his early years he was a regular at the Lind Arena Skating Rink, where he met his wife Melanie. Gene proudly served his country in the Army from December 4, 1956 to December 3, 1958. Surviving are his wife, Melanie Sue (Wiseman) Mast whom he married April 26, 1963; daughter Dawn (Dave) Tonneman; two granddaughters Elise Noelle and Hannah Rose Tonneman. Three sisters; Shirley (Dick) Trainer of Georgia, Linda (Tom) Hartman of Hebron and Nancy (Bill) Wilson of Port Clinton, Ohio. Gene also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and many camping and square dance friends he has met over the years. Gene will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park. |
