About | Ramona King Kieffer, 79, of Zanesville, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Zanesville, the daughter of the late J. Carl King and Alice M. White Mortine. She served as the trustee/consultant for Zanesville Memorial Park and was a former member of the staff of WHIZ Radio and TV. A professional vocalist, she was also active in local music and drama circles for many years. She was a 1947 graduate of Zanesville High School and attended Ohio University. Mrs. Kieffer was a member of the All Around Club, Beaux Arts Club, Zanesville Yacht Club, Zanesville Art Center and Trinity Presbyterian Church. Ramona is survived by two loving daughters, Becky Mitzel of Zanesville and Anne Hughes of Columbus; two wonderful grandsons, Kristopher Allen Hughes of Columbus and Ward Kieffer Mitzel of Zanesville, sister, Eileen Cody Porter of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Rex Kieffer Jr., whom she married Oct. 7, 1951; and a sister, Peggie King Walker. Calling hours will be held at 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Bryan & Snider Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave., and one hour prior to service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 830 Military Road with Dr. Richard Boyer officiating. Committal service will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
