Richard L. "Duke" Huey, 82 of Zanesville, died at 4:24 pm on January 8, 2011. Born Friday, August 31, 1928, he was the son of Robert E. and Altha Forker Huey. Duke retired after 37 years of service with the United States Post Office as a letter carrier. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, was a member of the American Legion Post 29, and had been a long time member of the Southeastern Ohio Field Trial Association. Duke also coached several years at Y-City Midget League Baseball and for North Bears Biddy League Football. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Beverly Harkins Huey whom he married on May 24, 1952, sons; Joseph Huey of Columbus, John (Marianne) Huey of Zanesville and James (Sherri) Huey of Nashport, ten grandchildren; Jake Huey, Jess Huey, Claire Huey, Cody Huey, J. D. Huey, Jamaica Crom, Josh (Nicole) Huey, Kyle Shakelford, Tyler Shackelford and Molly Huey, four great grandchildren; Alexis Freeman, Cameron Crom, Kaitlyn Huey and Natalie Huey, two brothers; James (Jean) Huey and Tom (Carol) Huey, one sister; Patty Huey and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Duke was preceded in death by brothers; Robert Huey Jr., Benny Huey and Gene Huey, sister; Gloria Ripple and daughters in-law; Kathy A. Huey and Melody Huffman. At Dukes’ request there will be no calling hours. There will be a celebration of his life at a later date. |
